Fraudulent Values
What is the greatest danger facing the world today? Is it global terrorism? Is it global warming? Is it globalization? Is it galloping materialism?
The answer can be seen clearly only when one realizes that all civilizations have continuously distorted basic human values in order to perpetuate their power. If we step back to deconstruct the tenuous fabric of our nations, religions, traditions and politics we can see that all of these, whilst claiming to be civilized, in fact ennoble inhumanity, dignify base attitudes and glorify barbarity.
How can a line on a map, a piece of territory, an ancient text, a mere belief or opinion ever be more important to any member of the the human race than a human life? Yet respect for the life and liberty of others, which should, for intelligent beings, be the bedrock of all morality, is always downgraded in favour of these prehistoric relics. To bolster this devaluing of humanity, those in power, temporal or so-called spiritual, have always fostered primitive notions like patriotism in order to provide mindless cannon-fodder for their wars, doctrines of blind faith for the same purpose, or similarly loyalty to a mere piece of coloured cloth. A reckless hero is lauded as more important than a dedicated doctor, a brainless martyr as greater than a gifted teacher, a babbler of myth and dogma as wiser than an accomplished scientist.
All such misplaced reverence gives hypocrites a platform from which to air their groundless self-righteousness, parroting their empty precepts, which the brainwashed world accepts often without question on the mere basis that such ideas are ancient. The inversion and perversion of true moral values has evolved throughout history in parallel with our cultures, which are so deeply imbued with it that it is hard to acknowledge that a great part of what is deemed virtuous is actually a palpable evil.
There is no true civilization yet on this planet, and whilst we continue to respect fraudulent values that debase humanity, there never will be.
